Berezniki Magnesium Plant

The plant was built in the city of Berezniki in the Molotov region, in 1941-1943. During the Great Patriotic War, the enterprise produced metallic magnesium, which was used in the manufacture of aircraft, armored vehicles and ammunition. Some of the equipment used at the the Berezniki Magnesium Plant was from the evacuated Dnieper Aluminium Plant from the city of Zaporozhye (Ukraine) to the rear. The first magnesium ingot at the plant was cast on June 22, 1943.

In 1943, at the Berezniki Magnesium Plant a fundraising campaign was held for the construction of aircraft, as a result of which 229,000 rubles were raised. For their successful work during the Great Patriotic War, most of the employees of the Berezniki Magnesium Plant were given state government awards.

The directors of the Berezniki Magnesium Plant during the Great Patriotic War were Mikhail Rudnitsky, Yemelyan Sinchenko and Ivan Kryzhko.
